Parking Rules & Regulations

Avoid Parking Tickets

The following is a synopsis of the parking and traffic regulations enforced by Utah Tech University. This information will assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors in avoiding delays, accidents, injury, and legal sanctions associated with violation of the parking and traffic rules and regulations.

Legally Registered Vehicles Only

All motor vehicles entering campus boundaries or remaining upon state owned property must be properly licensed.

Mandatory Parking Permit Required

All student, faculty, and staff motor vehicles parked on campus must bear a valid Utah Tech University parking permit (53B-3-107). Any vehicle found on campus without such a permit will be cited, and a status check will be conducted to determine the purpose and intent of the driver/owner.

University Parking Enforcement

Campus parking lots and internal streets are enforced year-round. Parking permits are enforced from 7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday, excluding university holidays and weekends. Fire lanes, handicap stalls, drive lanes, sidewalks and sidewalk access ramps, overnight parking, and other restricted areas are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Overnight parking is not allowed except in designated Housing lots for on-campus housing residents.

Parking Lot Speeds

Unless otherwise posted, the recommended speed through designated parking lots is 5 mph. Citations may be issued by an officer who is able to reasonably estimate a speed greater than 10 mph.

Posted Traffic Control Devices

All city, county, and state motor vehicle laws remain enforced on campus (53B-3-106). All traffic control devices such as stop signs posted at entrances to any major city street will be strictly enforced. It is also recommended that vehicles stop at any travel lane intersection within the parking lot.

Pedestrian Traffic

Due to the heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic on University Avenue and at 850 East on 100 South and extreme potential for serious injury at these locations, this office, in cooperation with University PD and St. George PD, will closely monitor crosswalks for jaywalking.
